Arrival

I arrived in Amman at around 2am sunday. The trip here was long and uneventful. After collecting our bags, we sat on a bus to Irbid for nearly two hours. We were then given about 4 hours to sleep before breakfast and our first day of training. Needless to say, I'm exhausted. Trying to avoid jetlag, so I'm not allowing myself to sleep.

Jordan is beautiful and really hot. Around 100 today. Our Jordanian trainers are very nice, and all of them are enthusiastic and excellent teachers. Our first Arabic lesson was review for me, but it was still fun to hear everyone speaking the language (we can now all greet eachother and say our name). Our hotel is a little on the cheap side--the water keeps cutting off, but we do have CNN international!

We'll be here in Irbid for another two days, then we all split up and go live with host families in nearby villages. I can't wait to have a familyto live with. The food so far has been amazing--feta, foul (fool) beans, hummus, felafel, tebouleh, pita, etc. King Abdullah came to Irbid today, so the entire town was decorated and everyone was excited to see their king. His picture is everywhere! On cars, in windows, on enormous billboards...

It's almost time for dinner. Can't say I miss the US, but I do miss the fam. Mom-give the dog a big hug for me.
