storms

We got hit with some intense thunderstorms a few days ago. First time I'd seen lightning in over 6 months.
My walls started flooding, my electricty was out for 24 hours, my streets were flooded, and a boat sank in the Red Sea. Very sad.
I'd like to thank Jiyoung and my mom for two great packages that have changed my life. "Weeds" is one of the greatest shows ever, thanks Jiyoung. And my mom sent a fabulous radio that was very very useful during the blackout...requires nothing but a little elbow grease. If you crank the little crank thingie for 5 minutes, the radio will play for almost an hour. It's awesome. I picked up a fabulous jazz station from Israel.
There is a great deal of upset surrounding the silly cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in the European newspapers. Everyone is boycotting Danish food. I won't lie, I accidentally bought Danish mozzerella cheese a few days ago. And it was DELICIOUS. I don't think my cheese is anti-Islam. I know no one wants my opinion, but here it is anyways---there is a freedom of the press. I know it's hard to understand for people, but newspapers in Europe and other places can actually print ANYTHING THEY WANT without the government shutting them down. So please, rioters, stop burning embassies. The governments can't do anything about it. And the embassies never did anything to hurt you.
My friend Haifa got married last week. It was exciting, she had a big party with loud music and dancing and food, but since I'm a little wuss I went too early (I don't like staying out late by myself--people stare at me, more so than usual) and the party hadn't really started. Oh well. Congratulations Haifa!
I'm starting my cooking program this week. It's very exciting. Also my book club is finally getting underway. I'm also planning a health workshop to start next month, which I am very thrilled about, cause I am actually a health extension volunteer. Ha.
I have to get back to looking for bridesmaids dresses. Yay bridesmaid dresses!!!
Peace and love!

ps-I posted a bunch of pictures on Ofoto! Check it out!!!!!
